Dear City Colleagues,
29,214. That’s how many unpaid parking tickets the City Payment Center cleared off the books in the past three and a half weeks as of 3pm today. It’s an amazing accomplishment especially when you consider they had to process literally thousands of emails, voicemail messages and phone calls resulting from the Parking Amnesty Program. The team has dealt with people who were confused, skeptical, angry and yes, also, appreciative.
It’s an important accomplishment because as of this afternoon, the City has collected more than $824,000 from the effort. In this time of fiscal challenge, their work is literally helping to protect city services and jobs for city workers. Their work continues today and will in to next week.
I want to take this time now to say a heartfelt thank you to the team that made it happen: Jen Lesinski, Brenda Powell, Tracy Keeling, Kristin Whitehouse, Nicki Conway, Erich Felipe, Vince Nguyen, Pat Nicotra, Sue Barry, Coron Espey, Donna Knowles, and Kim Lee. And, of course, Martha Maywalt, who led the efforts. Martha and her team are also quick to give a shout out to the many other departments – Mayor's Office, Law, Water, Finance, Research, IT, BAA, Assessment, Codes, City Line and more – that helped with overflow phone calls generated by the program.
Keeping a city running is hard work, but it’s made easier by a great team. The City Payment Center and everyone else who helped out sure proves that. Thank you.
Ben Walsh
